Islington Town Hall elopement a cosy, personal and utterly lovely day
Mel and Sam did things completely their own way. And if you know anything about the couples and weddings we love, you’ll know I adored every second of it. Their Islington Town Hall elopement was all about celebrating the things they love most, keeping it intimate, relaxed, and full of joy.
I joined them in the morning at their flat, where they got ready together while listening to old records. It was such a calm, cosy start to the day. Just the two of them, no fuss, no rushing around, just some dreamy tunes and hanging out together.
The ceremony took place in the Mayor’s Parlour at Islington Town Hall. Islington Town Hall has loads of cool rooms for ceremonies, but this is the perfect room for an elopement. With just their two witnesses and me in the room, the atmosphere felt so personal and heartfelt. No distractions, just the two of them making their vows and soaking up the moment.
Afterwards, we wandered out into Islington before heading over to the gorgeous wine bar Goodbye Horses in De Beauvoir. Think gourmet small plates, a moody atmosphere and plenty of really, really good wine . An absolutely dream way to kick off married life together. I joined them for a celebratory drink before leaving them to continue celebrating the rest of their day as they’d planned.
Everything they did was tailored around the things they love. Records in the morning, a tiny heartfelt ceremony, and a relaxed wine-bar finish. It was such a privilege to capture a day that felt so personal and true to who Mel and Sam are. Sharing an elopement always feels extra special as well as it feels like such an honour to be a small window into a beautiful love.
If you’re planning an Islington Town Hall elopement, do it your way: keep it about what you love, and let the rest fall into place.

Kate and David, an actor and a musician, are two of the most creative souls we’ve had the pleasure of photographing, and their wedding reflected every bit of their dynamic personalities. When they first enquired they mentioned that seeing Pearl Jam mentioned in our FAQs was a selling point for them, so we immediately knew they were our kind of people. Their celebration kicked off at the iconic Islington Town Hall, where they exchanged vows surrounded by their closest friends and family.
After the ceremony, the party moved to the Five Points Brewery in Hackney, a venue that perfectly suited their laid-back style. This Hackney Brewery Wedding was just around the corner from where both they and we live, making it feel like a true local celebration. With a fantastic barbecue and drinks on tap, the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, keeping guests energised throughout the day.
The day was full of personal touches that made the wedding feel intimate and unique. Kate wore an incredible jumpsuit that broke away from the traditional, and David’s dad added an extra layer of sentimentality by playing at their ceremony. The speeches were hilarious, leaving everyone in stitches, which set the tone for a joyous and lighthearted reception.
The energy of the day was something truly special. The combination of live music, heartfelt speeches, and the overall vibe of this Hackney Brewery Wedding made for an unforgettable celebration. The informal atmosphere of Five Points Brewery provided the perfect backdrop for Kate and David’s unique style, and it was a privilege to capture their meaningful and joyous day.
