Tips, photo spots, accessibility info and real weddings.
If you’re planning a London town hall wedding, you’ll quickly realise there are a lot of brilliant options. Hackney, Islington, Camden, Marylebone… the list goes on. Each has its own personality, and its own kind of couple it tends to attract.
If you’re looking for a south-of-the-river town hall that feels like a bit of a hidden gem which is visually striking, calm, and full of character then Woolwich Town Hall is absolutely worth your attention.
We’re Andy & Szerdi, London wedding photographers, and Woolwich Town Hall is one of those venues that makes people stop mid-sentence the first time they walk in. If you care about design, colour, symmetry and atmosphere (and want a wedding day that feels relaxed and considered), this place makes a lot of sense.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to shoot your wedding!
Woolwich Town Hall is bold, grand, and slightly unexpected, in the best way. When you walk up from Woolwich station to the town hall, honestly the building is pretty unassuming. But once you get inside, you get to see what all the (worthwhile) fuss is about!
It’s a Grade II listed building with a seriously striking interior! A stunning chequer board floor, a regal red carpeted stair case, and a pink and blue colour palette that will make any colour lover go crazy! This Edwardian Baroque babe is an absolute stunner, and doesn’t get nearly the amount of attention you would expect!

This place has serious Wes Anderson vibe! Symmetry for days, bold colour blocking, graphic floors, and a staircase that feels like it was designed to be framed dead-centre. Photographically, it’s a dream if you love clean lines, playful colour, and images that feel considered without being stiff.
If you’re the kind of couple who appreciates good design and enjoys things being just a little bit cinematic, this venue gets you.
One of the things we really love about Woolwich Town Hall is how it feels on the day.
There’s a sense of space and calm that lets everything unfold naturally. You don’t feel hurried or boxed in. There’s time to arrive, take things in, chat to your people, and actually enjoy what’s happening. For couples planning a more intimate wedding, that breathing room is everything.

One of the underrated perks of getting married at Woolwich Town Hall is what’s right down the hill.
Woolwich Arsenal is loaded with history and makes a brilliant backdrop for photos if you like texture, old brick, wide spaces and a sense of place. It’s got that slightly cinematic, quietly dramatic London feel, without feeling overdone or too “weddingy”.
And if you want to move through the day in a way that feels a bit more fun (and a lot less stressful), the Thames Clipper is right there. It’s a genuinely lovely way to travel, for you, your guests, or both! And turns getting from A to B into part of the experience rather than just logistics.
River views, fresh air, and a very London way to arrive somewhere? Hard to argue with that.
Okay so this may be a super niche one — but hear me out.
Woolwich is home to Punchdrunk, the immersive theatre company known for creating deeply atmospheric, cinematic experiences. And while your wedding won’t involve masks or wandering through dark corridors (unless that’s your vibe – we don’t judge), there’s something about the area that shares that same sense of immersion. And if you’re after a fully unique wedding experience, a meal and an immersive show may be the way to go.

We photograph weddings in a way that fits the day, not the other way around.
Couples book us because:
We won’t over stage things or ask you to perform. We’ll guide you when it helps, step back when it doesn’t, and make sure your photos reflect how the day actually felt.
We’re always happy to talk this through.
I know its a bit of a joke how badly connected the South East is, but this does NOT apply here! Since the Lizzy Line made landfall you have some good travel options! Add in the DLR and Uber boat and you have some good and solid options!
Just down the hill is Woolwich Arsenal which is a great vibe and has some really lovely spots. Otherwise you’re right around the corner from Greenwich which has loads of really great spot! (Just ask us for suggestions!)
Woolwich Town Hall offers a grand setting for weddings with its historic architecture, featuring the large Victoria Hall (up to 120 guests) and smaller Edwardian Room (up to 36 guests), plus a basic Register Office option.
Confetti is limited here as there is little road side space for it. If that’s something that really matters to you, it’s worth chatting to us early. There are some fun, creative workarounds that still give you that celebratory moment without breaking any rules. Also, as always biodegradable confetti is the way to go!
We LOVE shooting weddings at Woolwich Town Hall for couples who want a wedding that’s in a great part of London and want a wedding that best reflects them as a couple!
If you want photos that are fun, colourful and unapologetically you, get in touch!
Zero awkward posing, we promise!
