Kat & Tom’s Surprise London Wedding at Charlton House | Andy & Szerdi Photography
A surprise London wedding full of colour, emotion, and doing things completely their own way.
Kat and Tom flew over from New York with a secret. What everyone else believed was a trip for an engagement party turned out to be a surprise London wedding! It was one of the most joyful, meaningful celebrations I’ve ever been part of.
Their wedding day began quietly and intentionally with a celebrant-led ceremony in the Old Library at Charlton House. As bibliophiles, this space couldn’t have been more perfect for them. The shelves of books, warm light, history, and calm. It felt intimate, thoughtful, and deeply personal.
Kat and Tom’s vows were so moving they had me in tears. There was something incredibly powerful about that stillness and intimacy. No big crowd, no expectations, just the two of them choosing each other in a space that truly reflected who they are.
Kat wore the most incredible red dress and veil. Bold, confident, and completely her. We absolutely adore couples who dress in ways that feel true to them, and Kat and Tom embodied that spirit fully.
It was about intention, personality, and joy. Those choices are always the ones that make a wedding feel unforgettable.
The following evening, I rejoined them in Deptford for what their friends and family believed was an engagement party. Except… surprise… they were already married!
This was the big reveal moment, and the energy was awesome. Everyone was so delighted for them, it was just incredible to see! Everything about this celebration again, reflected them. Sequins, bright colour, cocktails, pizza, Morley’s, and loads of joy.
From the quiet library ceremony to the joyful Deptford party, everything about Kat and Tom’s celebration felt unmistakably them. Colourful, warm, playful, emotional, and full of genuine connection.
If you’re dreaming of a surprise London wedding, take inspiration from Kat and Tom. You don’t need a traditional timeline or a big guest list to create something meaningful. You just need love, intention, and the courage to do things your own way.
If you’re thinking about doing things a little differently, whether that’s a secret ceremony, a bold outfit, or a celebration that breaks the mould. We would love to be there to capture it.
