If I am honest, I have put off blogging Jenna and Jeff’s wedding, as I had no idea how my few words and our pictures could ever do justice to their wedding extravaganza. So watch me try (and no doubt fail) to sum up one of the most incredible wedding experiences we have been witness to in a long time…
The wedding, pre-wedding Cave party and all festivities took place at Prynnsberg Estate, one of the most bizarre and endearing old worlde estates – in the middle of nowheresville, the Free State. When you meet Jenna and Jeff, and get the feel for the incredible hosts they are and that putting on anything less than an epic experiences for all the people they love to celebrate them finally getting around to saying “I do” just wouldn’t be them at all. Hair and MU was done by our faves Laura and Wadene from Nixon Make Up. Jenna wore her gran’s dress for their ceremony which was an amazingly sentimental touch – she also wanted to recreate a pic of her gran cutting her wedding cake – with a sword – which shows just how epic multiple generations of this family are.
Their ceremony was at the on sight chapel, and after a lot of bubbles and sword-cut cake, everyone meandered back to a slow, multi-course family style meal under the trees by the Manor House. For days the forecast had predicted torrential downpours for the whole day, but somehow – it held. After sneaking them off for a few pics (and an unfit change into some Elven Queen vibes) it was time for wedding celebration part 2 – a jazzy cocktail party under a canopy of fairylights. It was at this point that we began to hear the threatening rumble of the long awaited storm, which finally hit, HARD and suddenly towards midnight. Rain does something electric to the energy of a wedding, and watching everyone grab all the DJ and band gear and head to the house for party round 3 was incredible – were we the normal “knock off at 9pm” photographers, we would have missed it all! Watching everyone soaked to the bone, carry on the party inside the crumbling mansion – everyone sprawled across the rooms and just having the best time was awesome!
Jenna and Jeff, your wedding was so perfectly the two of you! You pulled off the most incredible multi-day celebration of your bold, and adventurous love and it really was so awesome for us to get the chance to hang out with you and share it with all of the fascinating people you call your friends and family. If your future is half as epic as your wedfest, its going to be a damn good one!
