The 1930s art deco architecture is perfect for couples who appreciate a gorgeous building, but also what an urban Londony vibe. Photographically, its a dream with gorgeous indoor and outdoors spaces. And just to confirm what we already knew, when Charli XCX chose to get married here, Hackney Town Hall is cool without trying.
One of the biggest practical advantages of Hackney Town Hall is that you can have both your ceremony and your reception in the same building. That means no herding guests onto transport, no breaking the rhythm of the day, and no stress about getting everyone from A to B. You can get married, have drinks, eat, and keep celebrating all in one place. If you want a wedding day that feels calm and joined-up rather than fragmented, this is a huge plus.
Step outside Hackney Town Hall and you’re immediately surrounded by so many awesome options for photos. Within a short walk you’ll find: railway arches with loads of character, pockets of street art and murals that change over time, streets that feel lived-in, not polished. It’s perfect if you want photos that feel properly East London. A bit gritty, a bit graphic, and full of personality, without disappearing for ages or turning the day into a photoshoot.
For balance, Hackney Town Hall also gives you space to breathe. London Fields is close by and works brilliantly for a quick wander or five minutes of calm, and is a great stop for some pictures. Or even a snack stop in Broadway market. The canal is nearby too, giving you that classic East London mix of grit and quiet. Victoria Park isn’t far if you want something greener but still very London. This mix of urban and green is one of the reasons we love photographing weddings here, you can shape portraits to be a little bit city a little bit naturey. An added plus is en route we know all the local secret spots for a phenomenal coffee or cocktail if you need a pit stop!

You’re kind of spoilt for choice if we’re honest! You’re surrounded by great pubs, wine bars and restaurants, so it’s easy to head somewhere nearby without breaking the flow of the day. We have LOADS of recommendations we can give you! Researching the good spots in our area is a job we take very seriously!
Absolutely yes! It works really well for intimate weddings and elopements, as well as bigger ones. The spaces don’t feel overwhelming if your guest list is small as they have a number of different (and beautiful) spaces of different sizes.
