Hana & Taiyo’s Hackney Town Hall Wedding | Andy & Szerdi Photography
This wedding ticked a lot of boxes for us. Super local, a very cool couple, and a day that felt grounded in people, connection, and intention rather than performance.
We first met Hana and Taiyo when they were guests at another wedding we photographed (this stunning cinema wedding and immediately loved their vibe! So when they later got in touch about photographing their own wedding, we were very keen to be there and so stoked they thought of us!
The day began at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green, where Hana and Taiyo got ready before heading just down the road to Hackney Town Hall. It was calm, unhurried, and set the tone perfectly for the rest of the day. They had such a lovely first look with each other, which is such a great way to ground yourself and spend a bit of time together before things get crazy.
From the start, their energy was great to be around, they were relaxed, present, and genuinely just overflowing with happiness.
Both the ceremony and reception took place at Hackney Town Hall, a venue we know extremely well and always enjoy photographing. It works particularly well for couples who want something central, characterful, and flexible enough to make their own.
Hana and Taiyo are a Japanese/Irish and Palestinian/British couple, and the feeling of families, cultures, and communities coming together ran quietly through the day. It felt warm, open, and very rooted in the people in the room.
Some weddings stay with you, and this was one of them. Hana and Taiyo have a connection that feels grounded and easy to be around, and that shaped the atmosphere of the entire day.
This was the kind of celebration where people stayed present, conversations mattered, and nothing felt rushed. Exactly the sort of wedding we love photographing.
