Caroline and David’s story is a hard one for us to tell, for no other reason than the deep intensity of experience we went through with them. Sharing such an intimate day with two people cannot but join you to them in a deep and permanent way and we left them that night feeling like not only had we witnessed something profound and beautiful, but that we had made deep hearted friends who would forever be entwined with us. Caroline and David (and their daughter Philippa), have a deep love of South Africa and come over from Germany as often as they can. They decided that on this trip out, they would elope in one of their favourite places on earth, Babylonstoren. Caroline contacted us in secret to ask if Andy would be prepared to accompany her on guitar as she planned to sing her vows to David. Andy of course said yes and taught himself the song and had a sneaky Skype practice with Caroline and snuck off on the day of the elopement for one last practice while I tried to distract David. The song, “Alles Was Ich Hab” translated as “All I have” so perfectly sums up giving the person you choose to spend your life with all of you. While I often get emotional at ceremonies, I could honestly barely hold it together witnessing Caroline and David’s deep and fierce love for each other. I am going to stop rambling now and rather let their pictures speak for themselves…
