We have found it tends to attract couples who want something stylish and characterful without being formal or prescriptive. Islington Town Hall is one of those venues that just works photographically. And we know, not everything is about aesthetics, but a pretty backdrop always helps.The iconic green marble corridor is instantly recognisable, the art deco entrance staircase is perfect for confetti and group photos, and the mix of spaces means your day never feels flat or repetitive.
One of the biggest strengths of Islington Town Hall is how adaptable it is. From The Mayor’s Parlour which is ideal for elopements and smaller ceremonies, to the Council Chamber which suits bigger weddings and civil partnerships. You can keep things simple and low-key, or go bigger and more celebratory, without feeling like you’re being pushed into a set format.
Location-wise, Islington Town Hall is a dream. You’re within easy walking distance of Highbury & Islington and Angel stations, which makes it incredibly accessible for guests coming from all over London, or further afield. It’s also perfectly placed for continuing the celebrations. Upper Street and the surrounding area are packed with great pubs, exclusive wine bars and cute restaurants. So it’s super easy to head off somewhere nearby without breaking the flow of the day or herding everyone across the city.
Islington strikes a really great balance. It feels central and unmistakably Londony, but without the intensity or chaos of some busier areas. Step outside the Town Hall and you’re straight into classic North London streets. From Georgian terraces, leafy squares, and quieter backstreets that work beautifully for photos. You get a lot of visual variety without having to walk far or disappear from your guests for ages.
There are accessible entrances, lifts, toilets, and facilities, and the team are proactive about making sure everyone feels comfortable and looked after.
Another massive sell in our books is that its one of the few Town Halls where dogs are also welcome, so if you’re thinking about including your pup in your big day, you can!

Islington is one of the most diverse town halls for weddings sizes. We’ve shot elopements, and 100 person weddings there, and both felt perfect. While some Town Halls can end up feeling a bit like a wedding mill, even when they are busy Islington Town Hall Weddings never feel rushed or like your wedding is just a number.
Yes! Dogs are allowed, and we’ve photographed plenty of weddings where they played a starring role.
Absolutely yes! Islington Town Hall is fully set up for weddings and civil partnerships, and the team are experienced, welcoming, and thoughtful in how they run ceremonies of all kinds.
Ceremonies are typically around 20–30 minutes, though is you add your own vows and readings it can be longer. Many couples choose to add time afterwards for confetti, group photos, and a short walk nearby for couple portraits before heading off to celebrate.
